Persistence Pays

This blog post by Scott Adams (creator of Dilbert) almost made me cry. Definitely worth a read... and a re-read.

Embarrassing Moment

I was in such a rush to leave the house yesterday because I was running late, that I wasn't really paying that much attention to what I was doing while I was getting dressed.

It was only when I finally got to my destination that I realized I was wearing a pair of shoes that were mismatched!! * gasp! * As in each foot was wearing a shoe from a different pair!! Hahaha!

Good thing both shoes were black and my pants were a bit long, so probably only one person noticed (thankfully, no one commented).

My mom was soooo right when she used to say that I really should take one last look at myself before I leave the house.

Tagged

So much for hybernation...

Rules of this Tag:
  1. Name the person who tagged you
  2. Name eight things about you
  3. Tag six people
Well, here goes...

Name the person who tagged you

Bluey tagged me, and since ang lakas niya sakin, eto ako... ;-P

Name eight things about you

  1. Personality. I am a very private person.
  2. Physical. I used to swim 40 laps a week in the community pool. These days, I just work out on the treadmill. It's less of a hassle.
  3. Peeves. I hate people who focus their energies on bringing other people down, just so they can feel better about themselves. They should either get a life, or go kill themselves.
  4. Pets. I've always had a pet dog for as long as I can remember.
  5. Purchases. I've been planning for six years to buy a new pair of sunglasses after losing my previous one, but I still haven't gotten around to actually getting one. Goes to show how much I don't like shopping.
  6. Penchant. I support the shows I like by writing episode guides. See Qpids and BWN.
  7. Passions. I'm currently addicted to editing Wikipedia pages. Last week, I was so focused on editing a page that when I finally stopped and looked at the time, I was shocked to realize that it was 2am, and I had literally been editing for four straight hours.
  8. Palate. I like most fish (raw and cooked), pasta, most tropical fruits, most meats. I'm lucky to have no food allergies. I don't like ice cream as much as most people think.
Tag 6 people

Hmm.. This one is giving me some trouble. As far as I know, only two people take the trouble to actually read this blog and they're already tagged! haha!

New hobby

I am emerging long enough from my hibernation to share my latest obsession -- updating Wikipedia pages! haha! It's so much fun that I think I'm now addicted.

Some of the Wikipedia pages that I've been working on lately:
I helped out a bit with Bituing Walang Ningning and List of Bituing Walang Ningning episodes, but those pages are still in sad shape and need a lot of work.

And of course, Wikipedia would not be complete if it did not have a page on Carla. haha! :-P

Hibernation Starting

I've been really delinquent with blog updates (stating the obvious ba? haha!).

Frankly, I am toying with the idea of discontinuing further updates to the blog because I think it has already fulfilled its purpose.

For one year (yeah, it's been a year!), I had a little playpen in which to vent, record, muse, and reflect. It's been a wonderful form of catharsis. Blogging made me realize that there's always something new to think about, if you just take the time and force yourself to sit in front of a blank page.

But the blog also has a severe limitation: the fact that it's just sitting here on the Internet, getting crawled by search engines, and potentially being found by God-only-knows-who limits the topics that I can blog about.

So I guess this blog will go into hibernation for now. Should I ever feel the need to vent once again, at least I now know exactly where to go.

A Fortnight's Hiatus

It surprised me to realize that I haven't blogged here in around two weeks.

Time sure flies.

Have been distracted lately by chores, reading assignments, and the like. Have even been having trouble keeping the Carla Fanblog updated with BWN screenshots!

I did get a kick out of finding out recently that Super Inggo has its own Blogger blogspot site -- and it's an official one to boot! haha! It's about time! The ABS-CBN official site isn't really that easy to navigate, nor is it particularly friendly to people who want to look for updates. I suppose it's not that easy to update either.

Blogger is simply perfect for stuff like this. Especially now that the new Blogger-in-beta has introduced labels as a way to categorize each post.

I'm looking forward to the time when I can migrate my Carla Fanblog to the new blogging engine. It will be a nightmare to categorize/tag each page correctly since there are so many pages, but once it's done it should be a thing of beauty! hehe!

Giggly and Giddy

I met someone a couple of years ago. We had both arrived early for an association meeting and it was my first time to attend, so I didn't know anyone. He was reading a book to pass the time, and I found myself fascinated to see someone who goes to meetings early and brings a book along... because that's something I do a lot myself.

At best, we've been acquaintances since that day. We see each other probably once a month at gatherings, and we exchange nods at most. There's been hardly any real conversation or even casual discussion about anything or about anyone. You might say we were just one step better than being strangers.

I have to admit, though, that I've often wondered what he's like.

Anyway, last night, I needed to contact him for something related to the association, and for the first time ever, we got a text-exchange going that lasted around an hour or so. I was surprised to learn that he had a wicked sense of humor, and at one point I even accused him of being a 'bolero' -- he was such fun to text. I was so surprised to find myself feeling kinda giggly and giddy at the same time. haha!

It was a strange feeling. I don't think he was flirting with me, although there were a few lines there that were kinda borderline and therefore open to (mis)interpretation. And I admit that I let myself get carried away by the thought of what if...?

Heck, I'm still smiling ear-to-ear at the thought of those messages. haha!

Anyway, more than 24 hours have passed since then, and my common sense has finally (and belatedly) asserted itself. And while I harbor no illusions of a romance springing up between us, I have to admit that I really enjoyed the temporary 'high' and that feeling of girlish happiness that came with the experience.

No wonder people love the feeling of being in love. If an hour of texting can create this kind of a giddy sensation, then true love must feel truly amazing.
