Bookends

During the down times of the past week, I actually got around to starting and finishing Bookends, a novel by Jane Green.

It was a highly enjoyable read because the characters were interesting and so richly described that you could really picture them. The plot kept the story moving along and of course you're just simply dying to know whether our heroine gets a happily ever after.

I think the part of the story that I liked the most, though, is the notion of our characters having been friends for over a decade (since university) and still being a close-knit barkada despite the fact that they're now in their early 30s and have each evolved into newer versions of themselves.

That's one kind of social safety net that I would love to have myself. :D
