Birth and Death
In an hour or so, I leave to attend a first birthday party. It should be loud, boisterous fun! Lots of little kids (and big kids like me) will be running around doing silly things, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to it.
On the way home from the party, though, I will stop by a wake to pay my respects to the mom of a friend. She passed away last night. My friend and I have recently had discussions about the health of our respective moms. I cannot imagine the heartache my friend is going through now that the inevitable has happened.
Birthdays and Deaths. How ironic and inexorable is the cycle that is Life.
