The big giveway

A very rich person should leave his kids enough to do anything but not enough to do nothing.
-- Warren Buffett in a 1986 interview with Fortune Magazine.
Now, 20 years later, the second richest man in the world puts his money where his mouth is... by donating 85% of his fortune (amounting to roughly US$ 37.4 billion) to five charities.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, currently the largest foundation in the world, will receive US$ 31 billion of that donated amount. The remaining US$ 6.4 billion will go to foundations that are run by his three children, and another foundation named in honor of his deceased wife.

The numbers are utterly mind-boggling.
